Komodo Dragon Man sketch July 22, 2008
I’m kind of having fun with this character now… he’s kind of the “patriotic” stereotype of the superhero, only a little humorously… He’s got a publicist and he makes sure to pose for the papers after every act of heroism. He is very well intentioned, he’s just a little caught up in the fame…
This sketch is KDM getting ready to pound a bad guy, wearing his new patriotic suit!
Inked!! July 10, 2008
A rarity for me really. A hand-drawn inked drawing of Komodo Dragon Girl. I really wanted to try out the style I’m going to work in for this project. I like the simple black and white lines, no color on this one. I kind of like the design power of strictly black and white, it makes you think about your drawing alot more and it gives the piece kind of an interesting feel as areas blend together through shared tonality. I also am staying away from making any use of heavy hatching or shading techniques, kind a chiaroscuro for comics… I’m not going spot color either, with the popularity of Frank Miller lately it just feels campy and ’80s to go spot color on this. Now that I’ve blah blah’d enough, here’s the drawing!
More characters July 7, 2008
I keep creating characters for my increasingly crazy comic book project. Missed a couple days last week b/c of work and my “little” bike project… (more later).
Here’s Captain Pickles, Komodo Dragon Girls little sister and trusty sidekick. Also, Komodo Dragon Man, the “big shot” superhero of KDG’s city. He doesn’t like KDG and they refuse to work together.
