I had a funny dream on the bus-ride in this morning. Yes, I was indeed sleeping on the bus and although I know it’s odd it’s also incredibly relaxing. Unlike sleeping behind the wheel which is nerve-racking and difficult.
It was in a flat, like an old 70’s apartment, and Jesus and God were there. Jesus was arguing with God, “but Dad, I think that children need to be raised with less boundaries, allowed to make their own decisions, even if they’re the wrong ones!” and God says “Look son, children need solid boundaries, strict rules. If they know ahead of time what their reward or punishment will be they will have motivation to try harder!”
A voice chimes in from the kitchen, it’s a middle eastern accent and when the camera pans over all you can see is a mans arms out from underneath the hanging cabinets blocking the view of him. “I think there is a good inbetween, don’t you? I mean, what about strict rules and restrictions, but no official structure to enforce them? That leaves the child to choose what’s right and wrong without someone standing over them waving their fist, right? Freedom with no freedom to interpret, that’s what I say.”
Jesus, obviously perturbed says “Shut up Mohammed, I was talking to my dad here!” upon which God answers “I suppose you’re both right in some sense, maybe we can all just agree to disagree.” All laugh and Jesus secretly scowls in Mohammeds direction. Mohammed quietly (still without showing his face) brings out a plate with a cheeseball and some crackers.
