Wolverine for Project Rooftop

May 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Okay, I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it or not, but for what it’s worth, here’s my entry for the Project Rooftop: Wolverine look sharp contest:

Wolverine redesigned

I was inspired by some of his outfits that he’s worn and thought he might be able to look a little weapon X too… If I’m going to enter I’ll have to polish it a little more, like for example erasing pencil lines and coloring. You know, the little nit-picky stuff.

Of bias tape and monsters

May 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It seems I’m always working on something. For example, right now I’m working on a silk a-line skirt. It’s my own pattern, which so far is fantastic, and it’s completely hand sewn and detailed. Right now I ‘m working on getting the hong-kong finished seams in. I cut my own bias tape out of an old, thread-bare pillow case. It was cotton, it was pre-shrunk and it was thin. Perfect. I cut it into bias-cut one inch strips, ironed it with two folds for the bias tape and have been hand-sewing the unfinished silk seams, ironed open. So far, so perfect. It’s beautiful and will add the perfect finishing touch to  a skirt that should be beautiful, wearable and most importantly make the wearer (my wife in this case) feel feminine and stylish.

Every Wednesday, I draw a monster for my daughter. I’ve been meaning to post them so I will do so going forward. I also have a job, too. I do the website and graphic design for my company. It’s good, it pays well and keeps the kids and wife home and happy. If I ever lose it, the kids go to the salt mines. I hear they pay well for little kids.

And don’t forget the garden. It’s taken over the backyard. Our porch looks like a nursery with all the tomato plants. We have a salad table a la Cultivating Life. We have cabbages, peas, onions, garlic and more. It’s absurd. I will post pictures of the garlic, it’s too much to handle I have to say. We are members of a CSA, we work hours during the summer. We use pretty much only raw ingredients in our food when we cook so theres many more hours of food prep and cooking. My youngest is only a little over a year, so we are still experiencing baby sleep deprivation.

Some days it feels a little over the top and I seriously consider turning on American Idol and ordering a pizza, but then I think, what fun would that be?
